Two performances of Little Piece of You—An Atypical Musical will be presented October 31 and November 1 at London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane as previously announced. Kjersti Long, who co-wrote the new musical, will also star in the role of Sidney Hill. Rock prodigy Long, now 17, began to compose the music for the show at the age of 14.
The musical's European premiere will also feature the newly announced Mica Paris as Shannon, Olivier winner David Bedella as Ethan, and Dujonna Gift as Britt. The company will be backed by the London Musical Theatre Orchestra.
In an earlier statement Long said, “It is a dream come true to see the music that I began working on when I was 14 come to life in the iconic setting of London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane, one of the biggest theatres in the U.K. It is mind-boggling that I get to take to the stage alongside the most extraordinary cast who we will announce in the coming weeks. I can’t wait for London audiences to be a part of history in these first look concerts!”
Little Piece of You features a book by Melissa Leilani Larson, music and lyrics by Kjersti Long and Jeremy Long, and additional lyrics by Chantry Johnson, Michelle Zarlenga, Wendy Parr, Paul Moak, and Hunter Wolfe.
The new musical follows mother and daughter Shannon and Britt, as they confront their family’s hidden struggles and embark on a transformative journey.
The concerts will also have co-direction by Jennifer Tang and Joshua Long, associate direction by Shelby Noelle Gist, musical supervision by Katy Richardson, musical direction by Lauren Hopkinson, set design by Justin Williams, lighting design by Tim Oliver, sound design by Tom Marshall, costume design by Elin Steele, orchestrations and arrangements by Zach Hansen, co-choreography by Jess Williams and Jonnie Riordan, set design consulting by Brad Shelton, dramaturgy by Janine Sobeck Knighton, and casting by Pearson Casting's Rachael Downey, Sorcha Doherty, and Sammie Richards.
