DESCRIPTION

General: The Acting Company seeks a Company Manager for their 2024-25 Season. The Company Manager is the first point of contact for artists and crew. They are responsible for managing the execution of the weekly company schedule, company travel logistics, and company hospitality needs from the first tour performance through the return of the tour to NYC. The Company Manager also acts as the liaison between the Presenters at each venue and The Acting Company. This position reports to the Producing Director and also works closely with the Associate Producer and General Manager.

Company Information: The Acting Company (www.theactingcompany.org) is a fifty-year-old theatre company dedicated to developing artists and audiences through national repertory tours. This season’s two show repertory will include August Wilson’s Two Trains Running (directed by Lili-Anne Brown) and William Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors (directed by Devin Brain). The rep will rehearse in NYC, tech and run at a regional presenting theatre in January 2025 in Ventura, CA, before touring nationally from February 2025-May 2025 in a wide variety of theatrical venues from Kravis Center in West Palm Beach to American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco.

Responsibilities (List not intended to be exhaustive):
-Advance the tour travel schedule according to AEA rules and presenter bookings in coordination with the producing team and tour production staff.
-Prepare and distribute weekly schedules and city sheets in coordination with producers and the tour production staff, keeping them updated as schedules shift on the road.
-Manage bookings of hotels, company flights, rental cars, and auxiliary travel in coordination with the producers.
-Manage food and hospitality logistics with presenters on the road, considering all company dietary restrictions.
-Manage the execution of educational events on the road (workshops or post-show discussions), and gather educational information from these events (e.g. photos, name of school, number, and age of students, etc.).
-Manage company receipts for reimbursement, overtime reporting, and worker compensation claims (distribute forms to actors/crew, answer any questions about worker’s comp per company policy).
-Execute company COVID policy, providing tests and masks for those who request them, and work with the producers to determine and execute COVID contingency plans, if needed.
-Facilitate logistics for any additional rehearsals needed on tour, in coordination with production and stage management.
-Stock departmental Company Management tour kit prior to tour and as needed during tour.
-Prepare and submit weekly AEA report.
-Submit Company Manager reports for each tour stop, including the day’s schedule, health info, notes on venues and presenters, lateness tracking, etc.
-Set up and take down house boards at each venue.
-Receive presenter payments and performance fees at each stop and mail payments securely back to the office.

Qualifications:
-3-4 years experience in Theatrical Company Management or similar positions (e.g., Tour Management, Stage Management, Production Management, Directing, Covid Safety Management, etc.).
-Able to lift up to 50 lbs., push/pull 100lbs, stand for extended periods of time (3+ hours), navigate multiple levels of stairs.
-Some pre-production hours may be remote based on availability and schedule. Applicant must have NYC housing and may be expected to work in person during some rehearsals.
-Hands-on experience in a management position on a theatrical tour is a plus.
-Valid Driver’s License, First-Aid certification, and EDI Training is a plus.

-September-October 2024: Pre-Production & Tour Advance
--CM works hourly (~2-3 hrs./week), as needed for tour advance
--Remote work possible, hours flexible
--$27/hour

-November 5-6, 2024: First Day of Rehearsal, Company EDI Training in New York, NY
--Company Introductions and EDI Training
--$27/hour

-November-January 21, 2024: Pre-Production & Tour Advance
--CM works hourly (~2-3 hrs./week), as needed for tour advance
--Remote work possible, hours flexible
--$27/hour

-January 21-February 1, 2025: Company Manager Prep Weeks in New York, NY
--CM begins full-time, onsite work for tour prep
--$1,180/week

-February 1-April 13, 2025: National Tour on the road
--CM works full-time on the road
--Dates include a final week post tour to pack the show, make returns, finish final paperwork
--$1,180/week

-Possible Extension until
May 9, 2025 – TBD
