Edgar Lansbury, a Tony Award-winning producer and younger brother of Angela Lansbury, died May 2 at the age of 94. News of his passing was confirmed by his son, David Lansbury, to the Hollywood Reporter. 

Mr. Lansbury was born January 12, 1930. He was named after his father, British politician Edgar Lansbury, and his mother Moyna Macgill was an actor. Mr. Lansbury began his theatrical career working as scenic designer for the 1964 Pulitzer Prize-winning The Subject Was Roses, which was the first show he produced. It would also gain him a Tony Award, for Best Play. He subsequently produced numerous Broadway shows during his career, including the original and 2011 revival productions of Godspell, as well as the 1974 revival of Gypsy, in which his sister starred. 

Mr. Lansbury also worked in film, producing screen adaptations of The Subject Was Roses, Godspell, and The Wild Party, among others. In 2007, he received the John Houseman Award, presented to him by The Acting Company, in recognition of his work that fostered classical actors and a national audience for the theatre. In his later years, Mr. Lansbury turned to painting and sculpture, studying drawing and painting at the Otis Art Institute and UCLA. 

Angela Lansbury died October 11, 2022 at age 96. Mr. Lansbury's twin brother, Bruce Lansbury, died February 13, 2017 at age 87. Mr. Lansbury is survived by his wife Louise Peabody, his sons David, George, Michael, and Brian, and his daughter Kate.
