The series of summer screenings will kick off August 23 with the 1998 film The Red Violin.

The Metropolitan Opera's 2023 Summer HD Festival on Lincoln Center Plaza Richard Termine / Metropolitan Opera

The Metropolitan Opera's Summer HD Festival, an annual series of free screenings on Lincoln Center Plaza, will return this year, beginning Friday August 23 with a screening of the 1998 film The Red Violin, directed by François Girard, starring Samuel L. Jackson and Greta Scacchi, with an Academy Award-winning-score by John Corigliano.

The Summer HD festival will offer more than 2,500 seats nightly, with no tickets required. The festival continues with 10 operas from the Met's Live in HD catalog, primarily from the most recent season of Live in HD broadcasts. The full schedule is as follows:
