Utilizing a jazz-infused score, 12 men debate the fate of a young defendant charged with murdering his father.

Asolo Repertory Theatre's world premiere of Theater Latté Da's Twelve Angry Men: A New Musical begins performances May 8. The production, which will run at the FSU Center for Performing Arts in Sarasota, Florida through June 9, will officially open May 11.

Featuring a book by David Simpatico and music and lyrics by Michael Holland, Twelve Angry Men: A New Musical is based on the play by Reginald Rose.

The premiere production stars Sasha Andreev, Curtis Bannister, Charlie Clark, James Michael Detmar, Matthew Griffin, Cooper Grodin, Brian Kim McCormick, Riley McNutt, Matt Riehle, Marc Cedrick Smith, Alexander Swift, and Adán Varela, and is directed by Asolo's Producing Artistic Director Peter Rothstein.

Utilizing a jazz-infused score, 12 men debate the fate of a young defendant charged with murdering his father. Said Rothstein in a previous statement, “Twelve Angry Men is an important work in the history of American drama, and I believe this musical adaptation speaks profoundly to this moment in our nation. It is a profound exploration of this country's potential to unite, to exercise justice, and to instigate systemic change.”
