"The Ensemblist," according to press notes, "is an inside look at the experience of being a Broadway performer — from the first rehearsal through performing eight shows a week and beyond. Whether you're an experienced theatre professional or just a passionate fan, 'The Ensemblist' gives listeners the opportunity to get to know new performers and the great work they do onstage, while also shedding light on some of the hidden innerworkings of Broadway."
The "Ensemble Shows" episode features veterans of various types of Broadway shows, Telly Leung (Godspell, Rent, Pacific Overtures, Flower Drum Song), Dana Moore (Fosse, Chicago, How to Succeed...) and Julia Murney (Wicked, Lennon), who explain how ensemble shows are unique experiences that require trust and flexibility throughout the entire journey.
According to press notes, "As opposed to traditional book musicals with lead characters, supporting players, features, and then the ensemblists, ensemble shows tell their story differently- every member of the cast plays a lead character at some point during the show."
