Off-Broadway News Tatiana Maslany, Tavi Gevinson, More to Lead Pre-Existing Condition Off-Broadway

Jesse Eisenberg and Charlie Kaufman are both on the producing team for the new work from actor-turned-playwright Marin Ireland.

Tony-nominated actor Marin Ireland has written a play that will make its Off-Broadway premiere this summer at The Connelly Theater. Pre-Existing Condition will begin performances June 7 ahead of a June 18 opening night, with performances continuing through August 3.

And, Ireland has amassed a roster of A-listers to produce the run, including Jesse Eisenberg, Charlie Kaufman, OHenry Productions, The Cohn Sisters, Jessica Chase, and Taylor Williams.

The work brings audiences to the aftermath of a "life-altering event," following the process of moving forward, according to press notes.

A rotating group of actors will lead the cast as A, beginning with Tatiana Maslany (Orphan BlackGrey House), and also including Maria Dizzia (In the Next Room), Tavi Gevinson (American Horror Story), Tony winner Deirdre O'Connell (Dana H.), and Julia Chan (Uncle Vanya). 

Maslany will continue in the role through June 14, re-joining the company for performances June 17-19. Chan will perform June 15 and then again June 20-22. Dates for Dizzia, Gevinson, and O'Connell are to be announced.

The cast will also feature Sarah Steele, Dael Orlandersmith, and Greg Keller, with understudies Raquel Chavez and Gregory Connors rounding out the company.

The production will feature scenic design by Louisa Thompson, costume design by Enver Chakartash, lighting design by Isabella Byrd, and sound design by Palmer Hefferan. Ashley-Rose Galligan will be production stage manager, with Eric Nolan Mattingly as assistant stage manager. Casting is by Taylor Williams, with Wagner Johnson Productions' Zachary Baer serving as general manager.
