Indianapolis native Morgan Anita Wood makes her Broadway debut in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Hamilton beginning July 16.

After six years performing in the hit musical across North America, Wood steps into the role of Eliza at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.

"After nearly six years on tour with Hamilton, the opportunity to make my Broadway debut in this incredible show is truly a dream come true," Wood said in an earlier statement. "Playing the role of Eliza, I feel so lucky to share this story with audiences every night."

Wood debuted in Hamilton in 2019 in the musical’s limited run in Puerto Rico, performing with creator Lin-Manuel Miranda in support of hurricane relief efforts for the island. She has understudied all three Schuyler sisters and later played Eliza.

The musical—with a book and score by Miranda—explores the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. Inspired by the book "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow, the musical incorporates historical figures such as George Washington, Aaron Burr, James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson.

The Broadway cast is currently led by Trey Curtis in the title role, Jared Dixon as Aaron Burr, Tamar Greene as George Washington, Bryson Bruce as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, Rubén J. Carbajal as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton, Jennie Harney-Fleming as Angelica Schuyler, Jarrod Spector as King George, Ebrin R. Stanley as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison, and Cherry Torres as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds.

Hamilton also has direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe, casting by The Telsey Office's Bethany Knox, and general management by Baseline Theatrical.

Hamilton won 11 2016 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The musical is produced by Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman, and The Public Theater.
