Lempicka and The Wiz have both updated the digital release dates for their upcoming cast recordings. Lempicka was initially set to drop May 29, but will now release June 12, as per the musical's social mediaThe Wiz is actually releasing their album early, moving the originally announced July date to June 14 according to a post on X.

The release could be especially impactful for Lempicka, which played its final performance at the Longacre May 19 but is nominated for two Tony Awards, Best Leading Actress in a Musical for Eden Espinosa and Featured Actress in a Musical for Amber Iman. Though the release date was delayed, the album will still be available in time to affect Tony voters before the June 16 ceremony.

Lempicka follows the true story of Polish painter Tamara de Lempicka, a young aristocrat-turned-artist who flees with her husband from the turmoil of the Russian Revolution for exile in Paris. Once there, Tamara meets her new muse, Rafaela, and claws her way to success. The book, lyrics, and original concept are by Carson Kreitzer, with Matt Gould co-writing the book and penning the music.

The Wiz, featuring a score by Charlie Smalls and a book by William F. Brown, premiered on Broadway in 1975, transforming L. Frank Baum's classic children's novel into an all-Black "super soul musical," as it was originally billed. This new revival, the musical's first since the '80s, features additional material by 2023 Tony Award nominee Amber Ruffin. The upcoming album will be the musical's first new English-language cast album since the 1975 original Broadway recording.
