Downtown theatre company Clubbed Thumb held their 2019 gala April 22. The evening honored playwrights Heidi Schreck (What the Constitution Means to Me), Jaclyn Backhaus (Men in Boats), and Sarah DeLappe (The Wolves) for their "feminist disruption of the American theatre."
The gala featured special guests Tatiana Maslany, Lila Neigebauer, Grace Gummer, Pam MacKinnon, and Anne Kauffman, as well as appearances and contributions by The Bengsons, Jess Barbagallo, Kathleen Chalfant, Eisa Davis, Will Davis, Donnetta Lavinia Grays, Kathryn Hahn, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Lisa Kron, Jo Lampert, Bebe Neuwirth, Gayle Rankin, Sarah Ruhl, Leigh Silverman, Lois Smith, Amber Tamblyn, and more.
Conceived and directed by Stephen Sachs, the work follows an 18 year-old who turned in his father to the FBI via real-life public statements and court transcripts.
Jeff Cohen's autobiographical comedy centers on his eccentric father, Stan “Squeaky” Cohen, a man who was banned from every Old Country Buffet in metro Baltimore.
