Grace Aki

Grace Aki's solo work To Free a Mockingbird will play the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe! The award-winning solo show will make its international debut at The Royal Scots Club August 5 through 24.

Aki won Best Actor at SheNYC for the piece, which also won the Audience Choice award at ATL Fringe in 2021, and was voted a Theater Best Bets by ARTS ATL.

The solo work is described as a blend of storytelling and stand-up. Aki tells the story of how her family journeyed from Japan to the American South in an exploration of secrets, lessons, and "how our stories get told."

To Free a Mockingbird has been developed by Kate Robards, Michael Fling, SheNYC, and Seth Barrish Instruction at The Barrow Group. Barrish directed Mike Birbiglia's The Old Man and the Pool.
